You can make your own DIY pool noodle light sabers!
Star Wars Birthday Party Tutorial
Last week I shared our Star Wars Birthday Party food, activities, and decorations as we as the party costs with you.
Today I want to go into more detail on the Pool noodle light sabers that we used for costumes and activities. The DIY light sabers served as a costume prop for the kids as well as a tool used in a balloon storm trooper fight! You can make these for yourself using this simple tutorial!
How to Make DIY Pool Noodle Light Sabers
What is a Star Wars party without light sabers? It wasn’t cost effective (or smart) to buy 20 plastic lightsabers for the kids so we made our own!
What You Need:
- Pool noodles (1/2 the amount that you need)
- Silver Duct Tape
- Black Electrical Tape
First, you will need to cut all of the pool noodles in half to make 2 DIY light sabers per pool noodle.
Then, wrap three strips of silver duct tape around the bottom of each noodle. This makes the “metal” handle.
Now, wrap one strip of electrical tape around the top and bottom of the duct tape for handle trim.
Add two small pieces of electrical tape as a button/switch to finish up the design.
Your little Jedis are now ready for battle! Use these light sabers to take down the Death Star Pinata!
