Simple St Patrick’s Day Craft: Handprint Shamrock
This St Patrick’s Day Craft is so simple and your kids will love making their own handprint Shamrock! Our family has a strong Irish heritage (my family & my husband’s family originated in Ireland) so St Patrick’s Day is always a fun one for us!
We decided to take a simple route for our St Patrick’s Day celebration last year since we were expecting our 3rd child & I was exhausted. Our week consisted of handprint crafts, baking, and a different Irish meal each night.
The kids loved the St Patrick’s Day craft and the Shamrock Sugar Cookies while Husband and I really enjoyed eating traditional Irish fare. If you would like to try out our super simple handprint shamrock craft, read on!
How to Make a Handprint Shamrock: St Patrick’s Day Craft
Handprint Shamrock Materials
- Paper (Legal or a small poster board are best)
- Tape
- Paper plate
- Small Paint Brush
- Child-sized hands 😉
- and Green Finger Paint
Directions
STEP 1
If you don’t have a long sheet (legal or longer) of paper then you can tape two 8.5×11 sheets together.
STEP 2
Pour a small amount of green finger paint onto the paper plate.
STEP 3
Let your child dip his/her palm into the paint OR you can use a brush to paint his/her hand.
STEP 4
Press your child’s hand down onto the paper at an angle (middle finger pointed toward the top right corner of the paper).
STEP 5
Lift up and move to the next position–>middle finger pointed toward the next corner.
STEP 6
Do this until you have 4 handprints that resemble a handprint shamrock.
STEP 7
Now you can let your child paint or draw a stem at the bottom.
STEP 8
Have your kiddo sign & date the artwork (after washing hands, of course) and you are finished with this St Patrick’s Day Craft!
