How to Throw the Best Star Wars Birthday Party
Hey y’all! Here is post #2 in my DIY Birthday Party Series! We started with Q2’s first birthday party and now we are moving on to Q1’s 8th birthday party. He is a Star Wars fanatic so, of course, he chose a Star Wars Birthday Party Theme! I love to throw great parties on a budget and I love to show you how I do it. Read on to see all of the components of this party and how much we spent on everything total.
Throwing the BEST Star Wars Birthday Party
Star Wars Birthday Party Invitations
I made these invitations for free on Microsoft Word. We only printed off a few for the kids at church and the baseball team. Everyone else was invited via a Facebook Event to save paper and ink.
Star Wars Birthday Party Food
Storm Trooper Marshmallows $5
W’s Aunt Margo gave us a bunch of bags of marshamallows and we bought a Black Food Marker for about $5.
Vader Veggies $7
$5 for tomatoes and $2 for carrots
Cookie Cookies $0
I already had all of the ingredients for these on hand. Quick Oats, butter, sugar, milk, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and vanilla.
Check out the recipe here!
Carbonate Jello $1
This little guy is actually Obi Wan, but we had to pretend that he was Han Solo frozen in Carbonite.
Cake! $45
Our cake was made by Sweet Jewel’s Family Bakery and it was amazing! She really worked with us on the pricing and she used modeling chocolate instead of regular fondant which tasted so much better!
You could always cut this cost by making your own or buying a sheet cake.
We also served Padawan Popcorn-2 packs of popcorn $1 , Princess Lays-2 bags of Lays Original Chips $3, and Yoda Soda– Ginger ale & Lime Sherbet Punch $4
Star Wars Birthday Party Costumes and Props
Jedi Belts $0
My mom had some scrap brown fabric that we cut into strips to make these Jedi belts. Each child tied one on (except one who wanted to be a bounty hunter instead of a Jedi) and accepted the responsibilities of a Jedi.
Pool Noodle Lightsabers $16
I purchased 12 pool noodles at Dollar Tree for $1 each, 1 roll of silver duct tape $3, and one roll of electrical tape $1.

Star Wars Birthday Party Activities
Jedi Training $1
We blew up a $1 pack of white balloons and drew Storm Trooper faces on each one.
My husband used some scrap yarn out of my craft box to hang the balloons on our porch.
The kids then used their light sabers to fight the Storm Troopers in a Jedi Training Activity.

Jedi Battles
After training, the kids…I mean Jedis… took to the battlefield! Here you see the Jedi birthday boy battling the bounty hunter.
Death Star Piñata $8
Crafting is not always my strong suit so this doesn’t look perfect, but it totally worked as the Death Star!
I had some newspapers picked up for free from our local newspaper headquarters. Those papers were cut into strips and glued on with a homemade mache glue. Then we painted & filled with candy!
See the tutorial here!
I was nervous to hang it up because we added quite a bit of candy and it was pretty heavy. We decided to place it on the ground and let the kids “fly by” with their light sabers.
When they finally busted it open they attacked the candy pile! Even Mother-In-Law and I got in on it 🙂
Star Wars Birthday Party Decor
May the Force Be with You Banner $0
This banner was made for free by me in Word. It is available for you in the printable pack offered at the bottom of this post. I punched 2 holes in each piece and strung them together with twine.
R2D2 Cooler $0
We have awesome friends…one of which owns a pawn shop so he always has some pretty cool stuff…Right before our party he received this R2D2 Cooler in the shop. He was so generous to let me borrow it!
Birthday Party Gift $70
I found a Lego Table that I LOVED, but I was not willing to pay the price for it. Luckily, my dad is a very talented and crafty man. We went to Lowes together, picked out afforadable, but quality lumber, and he made this for about $40! The 10 baskets added another $30. The desk will move up and down so Q1 can allow his sisters to play with him or he can keep it out of their reach. The lower baskets contain toys that the little kids can play with and the upper baskets are just for Q1.
Entire Star Wars Birthday Party $$ Total—>$161
Cost without the Lego Table Gift—>$91
These costs can always be knocked down more by offering less snacks or making your own cake.

This is such a great post. Full of lots of easy, cheap ideas. Love it!
What fun and great ideas! I have a few Star Wars fans here as well. Pinned.
Thank you!!
Love this! Thanks for the ideas! I just wish the pack was something I could modify because we are having different food. But will use the banner for sure! So cute! <3
