Camping birthday party food, activities, printable and more!

Birthdays in our home typically revolve around the child’s greatest interest and, more often than not, those interest are found in the great outdoors… horses, rabbits, tractors, and rodeos are just a few of the themes that we have chosen in the past.  My oldest child just turned 9 and he chose to celebrate his birthday by spending the night under the stars. His camping birthday party was a blast and I want to share it with y’all!

Camping Birthday Party Food

S’mores

What is a camping party without ooey gooey s’mores? You can use store bought graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate or you can make your own!

Hot Dogs

Throw some hot dogs on the grill and offer them up on a hot dog bar complete with buns and a plethora of condiments. “Plethora” might be a bit of an exaggeration….we served ketchup. That is really all that the kids wanted with their dogs, though, so don’t judge my lack of options here:)

We used disposable tin foil pans, paper plates, napkins, and plastic forks from Dollar Tree for our camping dish ware.

Twigs & Campfire Flames

Stick pretzels and cheese puffs are prefect for a camping birthday party because they resemble thugs & campfire flames. Serve them in Enamelware Bowls for a more “authentic” campout look.

Bug Juice

Make “Bug Juice” Punch out of 7-Up (or Ginger ale) and the sherbet of your choice.

Homemade Cake

I usually order birthday cakes from a professional (for good reason), but I decided to try my hand at cake decorating this go-around. It was stressful and I am no master decorator, but this cake turned out to be a hit!

Pancakes & Fruit for Breakfast

The kids enjoyed pancakes with homemade syrup and fruit for breakfast the morning after the party.

Camping Birthday Party Sleepover

Three boys slept in this tent with blankets and sleeping bags. Some other friends brought their own tents to sleep in. My husband slept in our hammock and I slept in my warm & cozy bed 🙂

Camping Birthday Party Games & Activities

Piñata

I always have good luck finding pinatas to fit our birthday party themes. The kids loved taking turns hitting this tent pinata until all the candy hit the ground.

Scavenger Hunt

The kids were sent on a nature scavenger hunt with a checklist that I made in Canva. They filled paper bags with items that they found around the yard and raced back to show me their collections.

Flashlight Tag

Flashlight tag was a favorite game of mine when I was younger. It is basically hide and seek in the dark. The seeker has a flashlight that he or she will use to find the hiders.

Fishing

We have a pond behind our house so of course the boys wanted to fish. Luckily, we had extra fishing poles and one of the boys brought crickets for bait:)

Camp Decorations

The only decorations that we used for this Camping birthday party were food labels, balloons, and a party bunting banner.
