4 Simple Fall Art Projects for Kids
Try these fall art projects with your kids this season!
Create Simple Fall Art
I am not a natural artist… I can handle a little abstract painting and drawing stick people, but my art skills are severely lacking. Because of this, I signed the kids up for an art co-op this year so they can flex their creativity muscle and I am trying to incorporate more art into our homeschool this year. We are now in my favorite season so I came up with multiple *simple* Fall art projects for the kids to dabble with.

4 Fall Art Projects for Kids
1. Corn Painting
A sweet farmer friend of ours allowed our family to pick some sweet corn out of one of his fields. We have so.much.corn now! Some is frozen on the cob, some is frozen off the cob, some was used fresh, and some is being donated to science…I mean…art.
What You Need:
- 2+ colors of paint
- An ear of corn (field or sweet)
- Paper
- Tape
What You’ll Do:
- Choose your colors. We chose Apple Barrel Waterbase paints in 4 Fall colors for my nine year old. If you have a younger child painting, Finger Paints would work well. You can let your child choose his/her own colors to make a more unique painting.
- Tape a sheet of paper (we use an Art Paper Roll) to your work surface.
- Let your kiddo paint the corn in any pattern. My son chose to paint four different colored stripes around the corn.
- Roll the corn up and down the paper to create a pretty cool fall art piece. I am actually planning to frame this one!
2. Apple Stamping
This fall art project is super simple and you probably already have everything you need for it!
What You Need:
- 2+ colors of paint (waterbase/finger paint)
- Apple
- Crayons or Coloring Pencils
- Paper
- Tape
What You’ll Do:
- Choose at least 2 paint colors.
- Cut an apple in half and cut a handle into the back of the half that you will be using. The handle is optional, but it helps little hands hold on better.
- Draw a tree trunk or a basket onto a sheet of paper. Tape the paper to your work surface.
- Let your child paint the flat side of the apple with one of the chosen colors. Now he/she can stamp onto the paper with the painted apple. When you want to switch colors, just wipe the first color off of the apple and apply the new one.
- My kids decided to swipe with the apple instead of stamping, but you get the idea 🙂
3. Leaf Painting
What You Need:
- White + 1 other color of paint
- Paintbrush
- Leaves
- Paper
- Tape
What You’ll Do:
- Choose white plus one other color. My son used orange + white and my daughter chose pink + white. Mixing colored paint with white paint allows the kids to have different shades of their color on the finished fall art product.
- Tape a piece of paper to your work surface.
- Let your child place tape on the back of each leaf and place them on the paper.
- Use a paintbrush to swipe from the inside of the leaf out onto the paper. Do this to all of the leaves that are taped down.
- Carefully pull the leaves and tape off of the paper to reveal a leaf silhouette!
4. Leaf Rubbing
What You Need:
- Leaf
- Crayon
- Paper
What You’ll Do:
- Place a leaf, vein side up, on a flat work surface.
- Lay a piece of paper over the leaf and hold the paper still.
- Use a crayon to color in one direction on the piece of paper that is over the leaf.
- Your kids will love seeing how images can be transferred from on object to another!
