How to Make Homemade Poppyseed Dressing in 5 Minutes
Poppyseed salad dressing is my all time favorite homemade dressing. It is smooth, sweet, and tangy which makes it work well with both sweet and savory foods.
I was so thrilled when I realized that I could make my own homemade poppyseed dressing in 5 minutes instead of purchasing a new bottle each week from the store. I’m not sure why it took me so long to actually make my own, but I enjoy it so much that I want to share my poppyseed dressing recipe with you ASAP!
5-Minute Sweet Poppyseed Dressing Recipe
Making this poppyseed salad dressing is incredibly simple!
With a handful of ingredients, five minutes, and three simple steps you can have a sweet, creamy, and tangy poppyseed topping for your salads.
I use this homemade salad dressing recipe on side salads, summer strawberry & chicken salads, and in my fall pasta salad.
Homemade Poppyseed Dressing Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Mayo
- 2 TBSP White Sugar or local Honey
- 1 1/2 tsp Spicy Mustard or Dijon Mustard
- 2 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil (or Vegetable Oil)
- 1 TBSP Poppy seeds
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Poppyseed Salad Dressing Directions:
STEP 1. Gather All Ingredients and Supplies
Make sure that you have all of the ingredients out and ready to go before you start.
Go ahead and grab a medium mixing bowl and a whisk as well as a container to put the dressing in after it is mixed.
Laying everything out keeps you from running back and forth to the pantry/fridge during the prep time and it allows you to know if you are missing anything before you get started.
STEP 2. Mix Everything Together
Combine all of the ingredients for this poppyseed dressing recipe into your medium mixing bowl. Whisk them together until they are well combined and the dressing is smooth and creamy.
You can also use a food processor for this step if you prefer that over a whisk.
Pour the dressing into a small bowl, a ramekin, a bottle, a jar, or straight onto your salad.
STEP 3. Enjoy!
Seriously… This poppyseed dressing recipe is that simple!
