Have you ever been working on a recipe that called for heavy cream only to find out that there is no heavy cream in your refrigerator? Keep these homemade heavy cream recipes handy and you won’t have to worry about that frustration in the kitchen again!

2 Ways to Make Homemade Heavy Cream

You can make a simple full-fat heavy cream with 2 staple ingredients OR a low-fat heavy cream with 3 staple ingredients. Both are easy peasy and take 20 minutes or less. I don’t recommend using this heavy cream to whip, but it works great in recipes that require heavy cream.

Recipe #1: 2-Ingredient Heavy Cream Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter

Direction=

1. Melt butter

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat or in a mixing bowl in the microwave.

 2. Combine

Combine the milk and melted butter in a medium-sized mixing bowl or a blender.

*Use a mixing bowl if you plan to use a whisk in the next step. If you do not want to use a whisk (because it will take for-ev-er), then add it to a blender.

 3. Whisk or blend

Whisk or blend the mixture until it reaches the consistency that you want. This can take a little while and I highly recommend the use of a blender instead of a whisk. It took about 10 minutes in the blender to reach the consistency that I wanted (see the photo below).
